jelani aryeh’s suburban destinesia starts off with the track “spectrum” (one of my favorites). with the vocals and flow reminiscent of jaden smith’s, jelani fills your eardrums with warm synths and light trap drums. the track portrays how jelani hopes to be as famous as his idols one day but wants to be a true artist, not spewing out shit for money. throughout the album, i sense inspiration from khalid, frank ocean, black party and jaden smith. his beautifully crafted album is definitely one for hot summer nights with your man or gal. perfectly honing his nostalgic and colorful sound, his heart-string pulling songs let you sink into his mind for the dreamy 20 minutes he gifts you.
